The Royal Society is making a film about facial recognition. As part of this project they came to the school to talk to our Principal, John Walton, for his perspective as a portrait painter. They recorded a discussion between him, a psychologist and a computer scientist to explore what common ground their respective fields shared. It proved to be a fascinating debate with surprising results for all three.
To further explore the topic they then filmed tutor Atul Vohora as he sketched a portrait of the presenter. He questioned the nature of perception and tried to verbalise his process in creating a 2 dimensional image from the model in front of him.
