Allan Ramsay will be exhibiting a painting at the Royal Society of Portrait Painters exhibition next month, on invitation by Melissa Scott-Miller RP.
The portrait is a study of Pauline, a part-time student at Heatherleys. She has modelled for Allan regularly over the course of the past year, resulting in a series of works.
The pose was based on Chardin’s ‘The Young School Mistress’, a favourite painting of Allan’s. It is a work that he has returned to time and again on visits to the NationalGallery, and a source of great inspiration to him.
