Atul Vohora will be exhibiting work from his forthcoming book ‘Painting the Human Figure’ at the Daggett Gallery in Kensington from 18th to the 23rd June 2012.
The book began to take on a collaborative dimension as it brought together the work of a relatively large and diverse group of artists. Atul explains ‘Broadly the drawings and paintings featured in the book are by people who either taught me, were students at the same time, or, at some point I may have taught. The sense of continuity felt important. The book begins with an exploration of what it means to look, of the sometimes surprising and unexpected interactions of colour and their effects on each other, using specific examples and looking closely at paintings. The exhibition is a celebration of the book, the work of each individual artist and the act of painting’.
