Exhibition by David Stubbs

David Stubbs is exhibiting at Heatherleys until the 15th March 2013.

He says of the work on display ‘The objects or views are selected for their abstract qualities. They provide a vehicle for me to explore tone, colour and composition. The lack of narrative in my still life and landscape paintings is deliberate. It is an attempt to create a sense of timelessness that could give the work relevance to the future as well the present.

The selection and editing that happens during the prolonged observation and painting process reduces the subject matter to colour and tonal harmonies and the way the paint is handled gives the image an uncluttered minimalistic aesthetic.

The intention is to create perfectly balanced and harmonious paintings that will be universally appreciated.’
